December 2018
What a year it's been!

2018 has been our second full year of trading and we could not have wished for a better period.

We have seen numerous apprentices gain their qualification. Registered many more for intermediate or advanced apprenticeships and have pleasure being one of the limited training providers enrolling Gas Engineer Apprentices, which is a new qualification.

Not to mention the range of short courses offered, which are ever growing. We have recently gained approval for OFTEC Oil, LPG and Managed Learning Programme for domestic Gas.

We would like to thank all of our customers and look forward to 2019. Where we aim to continue expanding further, maintaining our ethos which is ‘Setting the Standard’ in training.

Don’t Cut Corners……..

Gas Safe Register is the official list of gas engineers who are qualified to work safely and legally on gas appliances.

By law, all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register (replaced CORGI in 2009), but there are illegal gas workers out there – Don’t Cut Corners by using unregistered gas workers and remember to employ and use a Gas Safe registered engineer for any gas work.

Badly fitted and poorly serviced appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide is a highly poisonous gas. You can’t see it, taste it or smell it, but it can kill quickly with no warning.

Registering with Gas Safe Register is a legal requirement for anyone carrying out gas work in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey.

For more information on becoming Gas Safe trained email or call 01837 659357.

Breaking News……

Major Gas Changes from 1 October 2017

The Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) is the industry recognised route for someone looking to become a member of the Gas Safe Register.

It was introduced in 1997 and has seen many changes throughout it's 20 year history.

From the 1st October 2017 the scheme is being changed and as a requirement of Standards of Training in Gas Work, all Managed Learning Programs (ACS or NVQ’s) that lead to registration with Gas Safe will change to reflect the updates.

There will be a greater emphasis on practical training (currently guided at 32 days at the training centre) and proof of supervised on-site experience (a minimum of 50 days), creation of a portfolio. Something many experienced gas engineers will welcome.

If you are already Gas Safe Registered and taken the initial Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety (CCN1) this will not affect you unless you let your certification expire.

What do you think about Moor Training?

We asked some of our apprentices what they thought about Moor Training and their apprenticeship........

"Moor training has been one the best experiences i have undertaken in both the work side of things and the learning side. The tutors are great at sharing knowledge and breaking things down for you so it is simple to understand one every stage of the course ,plus they are only a phone call away if you are struggling with any of the coursework assignments. The facility's that they provide are great with all the equipment and space you need to do the practical side of the course ranging from bending small lengths of copper to installing unvented cylinders and bathroom installs. Another thing is the fact that you are learning on site which helps a lot for when your in and out the class room and vice versa, plus the fact that you are earning while you are learning. Overall I have found It. Great learning experience from start to finish".

Adam, Somerset

"Whilst studying with moor training I was provided with excellent training and support. The facilities helped provide such a good learning environment and the staff were always willing to help out if I was ever struggling. I would be happy to recommend moor training to anyone looking to extend their skills within the plumbing and heating trade knowing the best training will be given".

Damien, Mid Devon

"I starting my apprenticeship with Moor Training earlier this year in April. I was really concerned that my transition from a military career to a civilian role would be daunting and potentially the wrong decision. The Management at Moor Training have been superb and extremely supportive from the word go and I have felt nothing but confidence in the training centres ability to guide me through my qualification. The facilities at Moor Training are very modern and provide a fantastic resource for learning and education. I am so pleased my transition has been so smooth and I put that down to the fantastic efforts of my new employer and the training centre staff".

Steve, North Devon
